The team behind India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission, led by ISRO, has received a special award for their amazing work. It’s called the John L “Jack” Swigert, Jr, Award for Space Exploration, given by the Space Foundation in the US. This award is a big deal and celebrates outstanding achievements in exploring space.
The award ceremony happened during a big event called the Space Symposium in Colorado. A representative from India, Consul General DC Manjunath, accepted the award on behalf of the Chandrayaan team.
In January, the Space Foundation announced that Chandrayaan-3’s team was chosen for this award. This mission is special because it’s helping us learn more about space and work together with other countries.
India made history by being the first country to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon’s South Pole. Chandrayaan-3, created by ISRO, is a big step forward in exploring space. It shows how smart and talented India is in the global space community.
The Chandrayaan-3 mission achieved something amazing in September last year. After traveling in space for 40 days, it safely landed on the unexplored lunar South Pole. This made India the fourth country, after the US, Russia, and China, to do a successful lunar landing mission.
This award recognizes the Chandrayaan-3 team’s hard work and India’s important role in space exploration. It’s a proud moment for India and inspires us to keep exploring the mysteries of space.
