(Source : LiveMint) In a historic showdown at the Paris Olympics 2024, Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the men’s javelin final with a best effort of 89.45 meters. This impressive throw surpassed his Tokyo gold-medal-winning performance by 1.87 meters.

However, despite Chopra’s remarkable achievement, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched the gold with an extraordinary Olympic record throw of 92.97 meters.

Nadeem’s record-setting throw on Thursday, August 8, not only earned him the top spot on the podium but also marked him as the first Pakistani to win an individual Olympic gold. His final attempt, crossing the 90-meter mark, sealed his victory and etched his name in history.

Neeraj Chopra’s silver medal in Paris adds another accolade to his decorated career, making him only the third Indian athlete to win individual Olympic medals at two different Games, following in the footsteps of PV Sindhu and Sushil Kumar.

His consistent performances at the highest level of international competition continue to inspire a new generation of athletes in India.
